A Wonderful Vision
Sanna Bernehed was born and raised in Gothenburg, Sweden in the summer of 1989. She started taking pictures back in 2003/2004 when she discovered the art of photography when she borrowed her parents digital camera, wandering around, taking pictures of every little detail she could find, making something as insignificant as a small rock, an empty soda can play an important role in the picture.
She started to study media and by her second year She was sure that it was photography that she wanted to go in to. "Back then we used analogue cameras", says Sanna "and I learned the fine art of the dark room and everything that comes with it. After a while we began to work more and more with the digital technique, and I realised that my favorite objects to shoot was models, and when everyone else in my class took pictures of buildings, nature and animals I tried my hardest to improve my model photography."
After graduating she realized she had improved her photography, yet has always felt like she can never stop learning with room to always become better as well.
Direction Through Modeling
"I have never claimed that my pictures are portraying the reality." she continues. "My opinion is that we get too much of that in our everyday lives. I want to create beautiful, dreamy photos that truly affects and touches the viewer. The styling, makeup, lightening and surroundings plays a big part in the finalized result. Since I model as well (Nephania) I have a big understanding for the models situation, which I believe has helped me when communicating and directing my models."
Her pictures have been published in magazines such as Tattoo Energy, Death Rock Magazine, and can also be seen in the current issue of Scandinavian Tattoo Magazine, which you can see in her photography profile.
The models who have worked with Sanna have all claimed to have a strong connection with her when shooting. Some say it's because she's a woman and they feel they can relax in front of the camera with her. As a model and published photographer, Sanna offers her clients and models a full understanding of what to deliver from concept to finished production.
Teamwork Concepts
Since the beginning of Nocturnal Models, Sanna was shooting many of the models in the agency. Together with her sister, makeup artist, Linda Bernehed, they make an amazing team. They have worked together on all of Sanna's published works. They can easily come up with a concept and deliver the end result together. Sanna has been a long time photographer for us at the agency and we take pride in placing her in the spotlight this summer and we look forward to seeing what images she will come up with next. She is truly an amazing photographer.
