December

Interview

This dazzling top model gives you an intimate look at who the girl is behind the photo. Officially the most alternative glamour model. The Core is proud to give this month's Model of the Month award to December.

Tell me a bit about yourself. Who is the girl under the makeup?
Well, I am December *smiles* a girl far from what most people seem to think I am. I grew up on the country side up north Sweden and though I´m far too restless to stay in a place like that, though I´ll still always be the place I return to when I need to take a deep breath and chill for a while. Although I am a hardcore party animal, I also love nature, animals and the deeper aspects of life. Just being beautiful and fun would be easy, but thats simply not all there is.

How long have you been a model?
I started at age 17 *smiles* and, well..let´s just say it´s been a while since..

Is this something you always wanted to be when you grew up?
No, it didnt really cross my mind until I was "head hunted" for a job that someone thought I´d be perfect for. It opened my eyes and I found something I liked to do, and I was good at it.  The studio we shot in back then is still one of the biggest ones I have experienced (sizewise). Wicked...

What would you say is your personal style as a model?
Oh thats a hard one! *grins* I guess it´s mostly glamour nowadays, but with an alternative touch. I started off as much more of a metal-chick, ..but things get boring and you develop until you find "your" style. Now, I am definetly the most alternative model in the glamour buissness, and probably the most glamour one in the alterative buisness. I like it! Thats part of what´s makes me unique *smiles*

If you can define alternative modeling, what does this mean to you and what do you think it means to the rest of the world?
Alternative for me is making your own path. Of course you can get influences from others, but copycats just wont ever be originals, thats the way it is so dont go there. Find your own style and develop it! (great advice!)

Photographer, Nik Carlsson has said to me that you are a natural talent. You simply have poses built in. What do you think of that?
Haha, well yes maybe, But alot has also come from "trial and error", finding poses that works for me, learning from those who didn't (and trust me.. I´ve gone through a lot that didnt...). I havent always been totally confident either, but I´m pretty good at communicating, that helps a lot *smiles*.

Where do you get your clothes for your shoots? Is there a designer you'd really love to model for?
I love clothes and buy them from all over. High and low designer brands as well as vintage..  And then of course I have my wonderful sponsors that provides me with alot of great stuff! I´d like to model for Cavalli, Loboutin or Victoria´s Secret maybe!

You have been working a lot lately. Tell us what you've been up to.
Yeah, it´s been crazy for a while, which is great ! (and exhausting ..hehe).Ok let me give you some examples from  my action in April.. I´ve done an expo in Moore Magazine (the one out in stores right now), And also a cover for upcomming Moore magazine, shooting for Missäy clothing store, Trailortrash clothingstore, Wild magazine expo/cover (France), shooting for an art-project up north in Sweden and for some local boutiqes., Shooting for Mr Bling internet-store. Been out on tour gogodancing alot with nightclubbers, gogodancing on a big DJ event and with ProVeejay, Doing some work at Nordstan fashion weekend and at big nightclub (Push) in Gothenburg... *smiles*

If someone wants to get into modeling, what is your advice to them?
Be prepared with alot of "go" and self esteam. Watch, listen and learn..use common sense. Know your weaknesses and strenghts, dont mess up too much and always try to be professional..Most important: Dont change who you are just because you want to be a model. (excellent advice, Dez!)

What's been the most rewarding experience you've had since you began modeling?
The best thing is that I´ve met some really wonderful people through this buissness. I´ve also got to experience alot of situations and places that I wouldnt have done otherwise! I guess traveling around the globe is one of the greatest things as well.

What are you future plans?
World domination of course!..hehe..Tomorrow I´m dancing my ass of with ProoVeejay on tour, Sunday will be my resting day (yeej!!!) and next week I´ll shoot a sequence for a big upcomming Swedish movie thats called "Snabba Cash"

What do you enjoy to do when you're not modeling?
I have alot of animals at home =) Snakes, a cat, a dog..and so on. I try to spend a lot of time with them and my beautiful boyfriend of course! Like to hang out with friends, read, travel...And I´m a well known party girl, that I cant deny *grin*

Any final words for your fans?
Love ya! Keep up making the world a more interesting place. Check out my blog at www.finest.se/Decemberwiklund (Swedish) to see what i´m up to *smiles*
